Who knew there was so much power in combining meditation and dance? I mean, I knew there was something to it I suppose, I've ecstatically cut a rug or two in my day. But, I didn't quite understand how to connect the outside with the inside, until I started exploring Chakradance.
After just a few classes of Chakradance or "Shaking My Chakras" (as I call it), I've definitely been more in touch with the energy centers in my body.
Now, when I hear a tune that makes me feel like dancing, I am able to listen to my body to see where that sound resonates with me. I find where the energy needs to go and I let the sound and movement flow there.
Inviting music and dance into my chakras through Chakradance, has been such a peaceful and transformational experience for me, that I wanted to share some more information here about it.
Following is a little list of a few things I've learned by Shaking My Chakras...
~ Chakradance can induce a trance. The instructor is fully alert however, making sure no one falls or runs into one another.
~ Chakradance is a great Goddess activity! I always invite the ladies of my tribe. (Atlanta Goddess Women's Circle)
~ Shamanism and Reiki can be incorporated into Chakradance. I experienced a shamanic journey during a sacral chakra dance. In this journey, I danced with a large Bengal tiger. It was so real - I could feel it's fur and smell it's breath. Talk about awesome!!! :)
~ There are no dance steps you have to learn for Chakradance. Which is a good thing because choreography is not one of my strong suits. It's just all about freeing yourself - dancing your own unique Soul Dance. Superb thought, isn't it?!
~ "BE WHO I AM." That was the message I received loud and clear in the last Chakradance I attended. At the very end of the class, I was lying flat on my back, hands to my heart, when I heard the message as plain as day...I needed and deserved to BE WHO I AM.
If you feel like Shaking Your Chakras by trying out some Chakdrance, get in touch with Mary at Atlanta Healing Arts for some more information. She is my Chakradance teacher, as well as my Reiki Master, and is a wealth of information when it comes to all things related to Healing Arts! I know Mary teaches this dance class at other local studios and will travel to your studio if you were interested in having her do that.

The times I have shared Chakradance with Mary, it has been at Candler Park Yoga - a place that I have absolutely fallen in love with in the last few months! Faith, the owner, has created a warm and inviting space that just feels so comfy - a little like home. I swear, I could curl up there and go to sleep for hours. :) Unfortunately, there's no overnight camping, but there are a variety of other exciting events taking place at Candler Park Yoga, like concerts, classes and workshops - check them out at CandlerParkYoga.com.
Much love!
See you at Chakradance.
